ICCC Water Management System

Overview

Water management is critical for society. Therefore, it is important to keep tabs on things such as pump house efficiency, prediction of faults, key performance indicators (KPIs), and demand analysis. To make these critical systems more efficient in the modern world, we must leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet of things (IoT).

Challenges

Currently, there are many challenges in water management systems. These include systems which strive to meet KPIs while running off only basic infrastructure; this makes it difficult to meet energy efficiency goals. Additionally, it is critical that the plants continue to meet the water supply demands of citizens while meeting efficiency goals. This is almost impossible while running on an antiquated system.

Solution

The solution is to leverage modern technologies to increase the efficiency of your plant and meet KPIs. Artificial intelligence (AI) and smart sensors can monitor power supply issues, motor vibration, motor temperature, pump efficiency, pump temperature, pump pressure, pump head, and more. These parameters can be fed to software such as the Pump Energy Reporter Module which calculates the pump’s baseline, produces an energy report, calculates pumping costs, and produces a GHG emissions report.

Additionally, an Intelligent Remote Terminal Unit (iRTU) is connected to field sensors in a wireless of wired manner. Then, the iRTU monitors motor vibration, motor temperature, leakages, panel statuses, pump pressure, pump flow, and pump temperature. The iRTU sends the data to a master control station SCADA software such as WebSCANET through API or OPC-UA to ICCC software.

ICCC software includes water management software, water quality data, GIS survey mapping, and hydraulic data.

Results

With all these modern technologies integrated into your system, you can easily monitor your progress toward KPIs using bar graph and scatter plot visualizations. Additionally, you can view performance trends for the motor and pump such as efficiency, flow rate, total head, total power consumption, and discharge pressure. Visualizations are also available for group performance attributes such as total efficiency, total head, total power consumption, and total volume. From the ICCC software, you can view manufacturer curves and drawings as well as any alarms or pre-alarm conditions. This gives you the information to make changes which will move the needle toward achieving KPIs.
